Back at the last round of D1 SL at Tsukuba there was a stand with a Dyno in the pits so Naoto Suenaga grabbed the chance to see what power his 2008 D1 SL Championship winning S13 Silvia was delivering to the wheels.

Here’s some of my qualifying passes from D1 East Division Round 5 at the Nishi Course.  This circuit has to be one of my favourites I have driven on.  It’s not often used for drift as the course is made up of one section of the Nishi Grip circuit here at Ebisu.  Other than these comps, the Tri annual Drift Matsuris are one of the few other times that offer a rare chance for drivers to try their hand at this course, as the track is sectioned off for an hour or so, at the end of each day.  It’s so much fun, especially the long version in which you’re flat out in 3rd for a good number of seconds.  Check out the video and see what I mean…..

Snapped this JZX100 Mark 2 whilst its owner was down using the tyre changing machine in the Minami Pits.  Looks like it’s seen a bit of action!

After being consistent all day, and qualifying 5th, i made an error leading to the crash in the last round of D1 Divisional here on the Minami Course .  Apologies to Masato-san (The driver of the AE86) for leaving him with no where to go!  I tried to remedy a poor entry with bags of throttle, but too much angle meant i came up short and ended up switching back across the track, collecting the AE86, and ending up in the foam barrier.  The damage is only cosmetic and the car will be ready for the final round in October.  This meant though i didn’t get a top 8 finish and i now need a lot of points from the last round to get a D1 SL License for next year….  oh well that’s racing!

Special Thanks to Luke who caught the crash (perfectly!) on tape as he was there filming for his upcoming DVD – We are Drift.  I could say i done it on purpose just for some good footage…..  but I’d be lying!

You can tell there is a D1 round coming up, when you arrive at Minami circuit and see no fewer than 5 D1 cars, here practicing.  The 2 JZX100 monster Chasers of Kunny’z and Diago Saito, Koguchi’s famous 180sx, Jinushi’s 4-real works green JZZ30 Soarer, and Wind’s Autos’ Hachiroku SR20 Turbo were all here honing their game.

We saw these guys in there missiles (rough condition all out practice cars) R32 and JZX100.  They make good use of this flat bed truck for getting the cars up and down the road to the track.  We like your style!
