This is an annual event held here at Ebisu circuit to help promote the sport to it’s loyal younger fans.  It takes place in the pits of the Nishi course incorporating an exhibition competition held on the Nishi Short course in the afternoon.   There was a bouncy castle, face painting, and trade stands to keep the kids amused and they were even let loose on this sil80.  The result was best described as “interesting”!

Local tyre Shop Garage R held one of their regular Soukouki, or track day, here at Ebisu.  What’s unusual about this one though is the fact it’s on Ebisu’s Nishi Short Course, one purpose built for Drift by Track owner Nobishige Kumakubo.  Normally the long version of the track is a “Grip” only course so when a track day is booked for drift, it’s a rare chance that many people jump at!  The course is awesome fun with a totally blind entry as you switch over the crest of the hill.

With the November Drift Matsuri coming up here at Ebisu we thought it would be nice to feature this little video made by a group of Ozzies that were over for the summer Matsuri.  Lets hope for some nice clear crisp Japanese Autumnal weather for this one!  I wonder if the next group of Ozzies that are on there way will leave with more or less strait panels – Time will tell….

Ebisu welcomed Alan and Jason from Singapore for a special day of tuition from Team Orange star Naoto Suenaga.  The guys had little or no drift experience, with Alan having zero and Jason had only attended one half day event were he had been told his hand-eye coordination was the worst the instructor had seen!  It seemed Suenaga-san would have his work cut out!  The day started with a briefing were Suenaga outlined his 3 step basic drift training program, derived from years of development within Team Orange, the world’s premier Drift Performance Team.  The emphasis is firmly put on changing direction and complete car control, not simply power sliding.

The Summer Matsuri is 1 of 3 48 hour Drift festivals held here, on all courses, day and night.
We never really had much time to take pics, as we were too busy driving, so we left it to our friend and pro photographer Dino Dalle Carbonara was here covering the event for speedhunters. (Check out his Blog at the end of this post). Even though the weather kept giving us regular soakings, we still had fun, here’s our pics from the weekend.

Video option were here today filming the latest Drift Tengoku Volume 53 DVD (Out now).  Its featuring Twin Synchro Drift and was performed by Teams including Team Orange (Kumakubo and Tanaka in S15 Silvias), and Team Goodyear (Tezuka in his BNR32 and Tokita in his Crown) amongst others.
