Team BURST Visit Ebisu

A little while ago, 2 of the members of Osaka Drift outfit “Team Burst” visited the Team Orange guys here in Ebisu. Most famous of the duo who came up is this man, D1 GP Driver and D1SL 2009 Champion Naoki Nakamura.

The Team’s hard used S13s in signature pink/purple paint and emblazoned with graphics are instantly recognisable.

It was wet at the start of the day but that didn’t mean the guys weren’t going to go hard. As usual there were aero parts going in all directions!

Nakamura’s S13 looks so striking with the yellow Gram Light Wheels.

The day soon turned into a whistle stop tour of every drift course for the crew from Kansai, after Kumakubo joined them for some on track action in his S15 Ex-D1 Car.

I took a closer look at Nakamura’s famous S13 in the pits. This car has seen plenty of action and appeared in numerous videos partaking in some naughty behaviour (Search You Tube for “team burst“!)

“Used and Abused?” ….. gotta to love the skanky Osaka street style.

At it’s heart it’s all business, with a TD06 Turbo and cooling parts from sponsor KOYO. For those who don’t know, Nakamura drives the D-maxBlue S15s in Street Legal and the D1 GP. He’s one tough competitor and his battles last year with fellow driver Yokoi were one of the highlights of last season for me.

Suenagajoined the fun in one of his practice cars on Driftland for some door to door tsuiso action. At one stage when everyone was on track there was no fewer than 3 champions on track at once! (Kumakubo D1 GP 2006 Champion, Suenaga2008 D1SL Champion & Nakamura 2009 D1 SL Champion!)

I stole Emily’s Practice 180sx to grab some track time with these Drift Giants!

After time on the North course in a mini blizzard (!), the Team Burst guys were eager to get another spin on the D1 Minami course. I can’t believe this fender never went for a ride!

What a great day this was. It’s always an honour to share the track with Japan’s finest and tody was no exception. You can’t help but learn from these guys! Kumakubowas telling Nakamura about the crazy times had by all at the Drift Matsuris and you could see his eyes lighting up. Maybe he and his crew will join the regular drivers such as Daigo Saito, Koguchi and the drift Samurai at this years event. Lets hopes so!
