The hunt for more lock

As a drifter you’re always trying to adapt your car to give you more steering lock and therefore more angle when you drift. Not only will this impress the judges but it allows you to save a drift often when you go past what would normally be the point of no return…. Normal mods to aid this are Extended Tie Rods and Aftermarket Ends, Aftermarket Pilo Tension rods, and now more and more people are changing from OEM Knuckles to modified ones like these from Hey Man Products.

Owner of Hey man Products and D1 Driver Shinji Minowa modifies these himself. These are the 800ps Spl Knuckles (Price : 37800 JPY) as used on none other than Daigo Saito’s D1 Car & Weld’s D1 Car. He also produces 600ps D1 SL Spec Knuckles (Price: 39,900) for that class of drifting. Delivery world wide is around 6,000 JPY so if you want a set for your JZX90 or JZX100, please get in touch.

The Black one (Top) is the stock item.

Whilst installing the knuckles to my JZX90 Cresta I also changed the tired Endless Zeal Coilovers for a set of GP Sports G-masters. These are extremely popular here in Japan just now and many top drivers recommend them. I’ll give you my own opinion as soon as I get a chance to use them on the track.

Here’s a shot of the Knuckles installed, and along with the new coilovers I cant wait to get out and try them!

Congrats on the new parts.. Your old sus isn’t tired.. it died a while back..
Hey man, lol!
Thinking in my head, I need to confirm, these wont give you as much toe out as opposed to other “more lock/angle” parts like tie rod ends and such right?
Also with more “lock” (really its less lock as your turning circle is decreased, correct if Im wrong) do you have trouble with the wheel hitting the front Castor arms? Im trying to hunt around and find out if the aftermarket front Castor arms have, I guess a bigger bulge so you can get that wheel to tuck in further. Apparently Jzx110 arms do have this extra bulge.
Keep up the awesomeness!!!
Hi RayRay, these are really the next step after you have fitted Tie Rods and Tension rods. The extra lock these give you mean you need to run low offset wheels and even give your inner fenders a little nudge with a hammer! Our JZX90 already has the JZX110 Tenson rods with the “extra bulge”. The overall result is great though, yes now occasionaly its hitting the tension rods very slightly so its on the limit.
Hey Andy,
Just curious what wheel size/offset you are running with the knuckles.
Thanks!
Hi there, fronts a 9J + 12mm with 3 mm spacers i think. They sit outside the fenders though so there not very legal!
Thanks so much
