We managed to grab some pics and some words with Mr Saito Daigo, the reigning D1 Champion, when he was up here practicing for the next D1 round.  He was using his number 2 car, a JZX100 Chaser which runs an almost identical spec to his championship winning JZX100 mark II.  Daigo’s just back from attending and driving at Gatebil in Norway in which he told us he had great fun.

Daigo’s JZX100 Chaser features BN sports type M aero and uses DG5 coilover suspension.

His Chaser’s graphics are similar to the 2008 look of his Mark II which has this year, undergone a face lift featuring manga comic characters.

Why is it these overhead views make even the biggest of these drift cars look like RC models!??

At the heart of this creation lies Daigo’s signature monster power 2JZ set-up that with it’s T88 and NOS produces 800 ps.  No wonder his cars get quoted as being “monsta machines” by Mana P and the D1 Crowd!

Here it is in action at the Minami course.  Daigo’s machine has no problem spinning up the 19 Advan Neova AD08 sponsor tyres…. it looks so fast ripping through the circuit.

I wonder if we will see this car or his Mark II at next weeks D1 round, either way I’m sure he will be a contender for a top position.
